What's new in the Store?
New books in the store!! I seriously have to be careful every time I go in there! I love to read and have a stack of books next to my bed just begging to be devoured. Since I have been spending more time up at the facility I have had to set a new personal rule for myself, no new books until the Eiffel Tower next to my bed is gone. In the meantime, these caught my eye.
No, not every...

The Doc Spot with Dr. Boone
I have just returned from an ASAM annual meeting in Washington DC, on Updates in Addiction Medicine. There were lots of interesting topics discussed, and still no resolution of the “Parity Law”. Even though the law passed last year, no one knows what the enforcements are, so insurance companies are choosing to just ignore it for now.
There were some good clinical pearls that came out of the...

Introducing...Dwayne
Dwayne has been so helpful in providing me lots of good recovery information from the NA program. I am so grateful that he has been so willing to step up to the plate and spread the message of NA recovery through our blog. I have gotten to know Dwayne just a bit more because of this and he is a great guy. I thought it would be fun for you to get to know him a bit more as well. I caught him in...

Reunited and it feels so good.....
For those of you that have sat in on Cedric Dunmore’s 4:30 focus group, “Families Reuniting in Recovery”……you recognize the song. I know Cedric isn’t afraid to sing it and I have heard rumors that our patients and families sometimes get up there and sing it too. If there is one thing we hear over and over again about Cedric’s lecture it is,...

I just got back from our Alumni in Recovery Day in Beaumont. What a hoot! We had a great turn out. There was good food, speakers, fun, and fellowship. Thanks again to all of you who helped make...

Farewell to B.J. Kelley
We said a sad farewell to B.J. this week after being with La Hacienda for almost 10 years! I asked him to leave some final words of wisdom before he took off….
“KISS it guys. Remember the 6 basics: 1. Go to meetings; 2. Get a home group; 3. Get a sponsor; 4. Work the steps with your sponsor; 5. Don’t drink or use between meetings; and 6. Have fun.” Love you all! B. J....
