Who is an Addict...by: Dwayne
Certain things followed as we continued to use. We became accustomed to a state of mind that is common to addicts. We forgot how to work; we forgot how to play; we forgot about social graces. We acquired strange habits and mannerisms. We forgot how to feel. -Narcotics Anonymous book, pg. 6
We had to reach our bottom, before we were willing to stop. We were finally motivated to seek help in the...

More on Interventions
I ran across this book in our store last time I was there, I took a picture and didn’t think much of it. I have since visited Jeff Jay’s website and it has so much great information! I love his explanation of what an intervention is, “Intervention teaches families and friends a language alcoholics and addicts can understand. It organizes love and honesty in a way that breaks...

I actually went on the Turks and Caicos trip with Sober Vacations International. The whole resort was AA’ers! There were people from all over the country and meetings every night. It was definitely an experience, and one I would recommend! On my wish list? The...

Vegas? Sober??? Are you sure?
It seems like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? I love the point made in the article “Doing Vegas Sober” by Ruth Fowler. So many of us are scared that nothing will ever be as it was before we came into the rooms. We worry we won’t be able to do anything “fun” like we used to do. The reality is if we have done the work we can go anywhere, our book tells us that....

Who Is an Addict?
p.4, Narcotics Anonymous When our addiction was treated as a crime or moral deficiency, we became rebellious and were driven deeper into isolation. Some of the highs felt great, but eventually the things that we had to do to continue using reflected desperation. We were caught in the grip of our disease. We were forced to survive any way we could. We manipulated people and...
