The hard times ahead....
Believe more deeply. Hold your face up to the Light, even though for the moment you do not see. — Bill W. At times, we’ll go through pain and hardship. At times, we’ll have doubts. At times, we’ll get angry and think we just don’t care anymore. These things can spiritually blind us. But this is normal. Hopefully, we’ll be ready for those times. Hopefully, we...

Relapse & Surrender
…the acts which led to the relapses were preceded by wrong thinking. The patient in each case rationalized himself out of a sense of his own perilous reality. He deliberately turned away from his knowledge of the fact that he had been the victim of a serious disease. He grew over-confident. He decided he didn’t have to follow directions.   “Slips and Human Nature”, by...

Listening
I began to listen. Slowly but surely, some wisdom and humility began to creep in. I became teachable. I found God working all around me where previously I was sure I had been alone. When I opened my eyes enough to see the miracle, I found that it was right in front of my face. I was growing in God’s love. - Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 430

In Consideration of Step 1 by: Charlotte Safir,...
“We admitted we were powerless over alcohol and that our lives had become unmanageable.”   Of all the steps, this is the one that sets the stage for recovery to happen. Consequently, resistance, rebellion and delusion as well as the unwillingness to be rigorously honest are some of the components that keep us from recovery, from being willing to surrender to the...

Questions to ask a Treatment Center, 3 of 10
1.       Have there been studies to measure the effectiveness of the program’s treatment methods?  A treatment center should be measuring how effective their services are as well as using research-based methods. The Ladder
No one who drank as I did wakes up on the edge of the abyss one morning and says: Things look pretty scary; I think I’d better stop drinking before I fall in. AA didn’t...
