Tweeting for Recovery

Before this new social media gig I knew nothing about TwitterIf you guys are like me you probably are wondering what benefit Twitter can have to your already hectic life.

Well, I thought I would share how it can be fun in recvoery.  If you are already on Twitter this is extremely basic information.  This post is for the people that have to start with the basics!

First, it’s a good idea to get educated on what is a HASHTAG.  Second, there is a lot going on so I use Tweetdeck to organize all things Twitter.  One feature is it groups hashtags that I follow in columns.  Yes, there are a lot of hashtags you can follow but the good news is there are some common, recovery oriented hashtags:

  • #XA – most common and includes all things recovery related from all 12 Step programs.  I follow this one all the time, see example below.
  • #meetings
  • #justfortoday
  • #grateful
  • #AA
  • #NA
  • #sober
  • #recovery

 

Once again, you don’t have to follow all of these, just pick one or two and see what comes up!  It’s another way to stay connected to the fellowship on a global level!  It also brings up articles, blog posts and other miscellaneous information.  Of course, if you do give Twitter a try don’t forget to follow La Ha!
