Although La Hacienda doesn’t treat gambling addiction I think its worth mentioning in the “life after treatment” series (remember sugar addiction from a few months ago?).  If you are reading this you are either in recovery, struggling with addiction, or your a family member of either one of those.  I have seen many people who have been sober for a long time be brought down by other addictions, gambling is one of them.
According to The National Council on Problem Gambling, problem gambling is defined as “gambling behavior which causes disruptions in any major area of life: psychological, physical, social or vocational.”  Fortunately, there is Gamblers Anonymous (GA)  and there are also a few programs across the country providing treatment.
